That jumble of words is rather difficult to read.

you spent $2000 for a 92, you got what you paid for. a car with no problems would have cost a bit more. not putting you down , I paid $2000 for an 87 and love it cause its a learning experience, my 2c's

A 1992 top speed is near 160. It should be able to break the tires loose in atleast 2 gears.

Lack of power is often lack of compression. It can be a lot of things. When I was a mechanic 25+ years ago and we got a basket case that had sat a long time we would give it a really good tuneup to get in a condition where it should run. Then it still had issues, we knew it wasn't something dumb like a clogged carb jet or something.

Anyway, I would replace the following, wires, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, engine oil, oil filter, and transmision oil.

If it is still weak, I would be suspect of a blown head gasket, weak fuel pump, clogged injectors.

Once you get the plugs out they will tell a tale. They should be tan at the tip. If dark, then you are running rich, if too white you're running lean. While you are changing them it is the perfect time to do a compression test on each cylinder to check if the head gasket is blown.

I hope you have a lot of patience as changing the plugs and sparkplug wires can be a 7-8 hour job. Do them 1 at a time and make sure you route that wire exactly the way the old one came out where it snakes past the AC bracket / tension pulley area. You'll probably have to remove half that stuff just to get to the Optispak. You can also get some from under the car. Buy really good wires as you will have little leverage to get them to click into the opti.

I found that I had a problem where the wires were bad and the plugs had vibrated loose. 3 or 4 of them I could turn by hand! So I had a spark and a compression problem. The approach of getting to where it should run right showed the real problems right off.

Good luck!

We should be happy someone was willing to take a basket case C4 with the intent to bring it back to some resemblances of its glory. Hell of a lot better than the crusher or being parted out.

So let's help him get there.

The 4 issues you have mentioned are all unrelated so just fix one at a time.

1.Hood - sounds like the release cable is not letting the latches return
2. Headlights - Have to source some replacement actuators
3.Dash - Send it to a service facility
4. Not going over 100 - maybe has clogged fuel filter, needs tuneup. Do a fuel pressure test.

OK, lets start slowly - Where do you live?
Get a Factory Service Manual and a good set of hand tools, right now, like TODAY

Hood - look at the cables, if they are in great shape than get some white lithium grease. While someone pulls on the handle grease the area where the latch slides. Pull and release the latch several times. The original grease is probably gone from it sitting so long.

For the head lights look at the head light motor repair sticky above. If you can pull the cover off the motor transmission you can repair them. If not be prepared to buy a set of used motors.

The LCD display could be bad grounds, broken wires, etc. You will need the FSM to troubleshoot.

You got a Corvette for the price I'm looking to pay for a POS Daily Driver, of course its going to have problems. Depending on your budget for repairs this could be a one month to three year project

Welcome to the madness and good luck!
I asked where you live because there may be a member near you or a shop we can reccomend to help you.

jaa i live in laredo tx and i was looking at the hood latch last night and apparently the left one (the one that does not lock) is busted i found one online for 21 bucks not counting shipping

as far as the headlight motors i will check that once i get out of work and i will try the greasing as well who knows it might work.

and i think most likely it will be a 3 year project since im about to head out to bootcamp and currently dont have that much money

the LCD display im thinking of taking it to an electrician since ive never been good at electronics i usually end up making things worst in that department

and i will be uploading pictures hopefully by today in the afternoon

Lemme i did the tune up as soon as i got the car i will be doing the oil change again in a week since when i changed it the oil was real dark so i know it probably has build up so i figure re changing it might help

and i will be doing a fuel pressure test if not tomorrow this weekend

jay i suspect my injectors could be part of the problem for the lack of power i already looked around and im gonna take them to get cleaned saturday

as far as changing spark plugs and wires i already changed them i put ac delco spark plugs and accel wires but now i will do a compression test to make sure its not a blown gasket
