question about headers, exhaust setup!
i am planning on working on a 1996 corvette lt-1. i plan on getting the melrose headers and i just ordered the muffler eliminators. melrose has a whole kit that has the headers and x pipes:http://www.melroseheaders.com/produc...ystems/c-4.php
so now should i save up for the kit or should i get the headers and maybe a different exhaust system? any ideas? dont forget that ill have eliminators on it so i wouldnt need the mufflers.

you are asking a question that has hundreds of factors to give many answers.
1. what do you want to accomplish? street car? drag car? track car?
2. what do you want it to sound like?
3. What engine Mods have you done?
4. what is your gear ratio?
5. Where do you drive the car most? high speed? traffic?
6. how much ground clearance can you live with?
7. how much money do you want to spend?
8. what do you want the exhaust system to look like exiting the back bumper?
9. do you want stainess exhaust? aluminized steel?
10. do you want to listen to your radio?
11. do you have enough time and money to modify the exhaust if your first attemp isn't what you want?
12. are you planning any mods that would require any engine removals?
13. do you want the system to be easily modified?
etc.
etc.
etc.

its a weekend car, drive it about 3 times a week. i would like it to be a 10 second car. its completly stock for now, im gonna put eliminators on the car so its gonna be loud. i drive it within the city, and sometimes on some highways. my car is low enough.

I think you need to do your engine mods first so you know how much exhaust to buy. If you just want a loud irritating headache of a car, you are on the right track.
If your car needs headers, it's because you have better flowing heads and a bigger cam.
I will admit that when I put true duals on my stocker, it ran quite a bit better.
I tried 4 different setups before I settled on what I have now, and I'm not altogether happy with it.
You need to find out what works for your engine after modding it. Just making it loud now won't help the final product, or you will be doing exhaust 2 or more times, and spend 3 times what you expected......($2000)
