Welcome to the forum Bill.

You would need to post more information regarding your Corvette. Based on your thread title you have a 94 Vette and I also assume you have LT1 with the infamous likely to be the factory Opti Spark.

How are you reading the timing?

What type of fuel are you using?

Is the "service engine" light on?

Is this car new to you/recent purchase?

Thanks, First time here. 94 LT1 base. Just started going bad. Went to a shop and they had a computer that read the degrees for timing. I have a brand new opti spark with the vented lines. It will be installed tommorrow. Hop it works. Thanks again. Bill

Welcome to the forum!

Ignition timing is controlled by the ecm, not the opti.

Fuel requirement is 91 octane, but if the timing readout is correct, the engine would ping anyway. It might be worthwhile to pull codes even if the service light is not on, as there may be history codes stored.

Thanks for the input. I already had a new vented opti spark. I agree with you also. Their were no codes. The knock sensor had six knocks. It should retard the timing but it doesn't appear to.

I don't understand this comment. BTW, there are two knock sensors on the LT1 and if they are not working correctly, the ecm should set code 43. Possibly the ecm is at fault.
