Default Another Master Cylinder Brake Question

I've searched old threads but can't find my answer so I figured I would ask and see what yall think. I have and 89 and I haven't driven it in about a year now because the brakes just got too scary to drive. It seemed like no matter how hard I pushed on the pedal the car just didn't want to slow down that much and definitely could not panic stop. Well I figured it is the perfect time for an upgrade so I put c5 brakes on the front and ss lines all around. I read on here that the drm spring is highly suggested so I bought one, but when I pulled my master cylinder to install it the fluid just drips out of the the front outlet port. To me it seems that the ports should be sealed off if the brakes are not being applied.

So should I get a new master cylinder? The reservoirs look like some cracks are showing up so I was planning on replacing them anyways but now I am wondering if I need a whole new m/c. The m/c does not appear to be leaking between the brake booster and the brake booster is quiet so could the m/c be causing this problem?

there is no 'seal' that keeps fluid from leaking out if the lines are not hooked up, sounds more like you need to have them bled . why did you only do the fronts?

Thanks for the reply and thats exactly what I wanted to know. I knew about them leaking on the booster end but I just thought it was odd that fluid was dripping fast out of the front port and not out of the rear one. I actually only did the c5 fronts because I was already planning on changing the lines and I needed new rotors anyways so I thought I might as upgrade the front. I used to autox and was never really happy with them so I've been wanting to do it for a while. As for the rears I got away with just turning the rotors and changing pads. I read somewhere that there wasn't a big difference by changing the rear calipers to the c5 ones but if there is I may check it out. I'm really just wanting the drive the car again right now and when I get more money then I will consider it if its a good upgrade.

given the yearss of these cars, and if its never been done, a mc swap to a rebuilt one would probably save some aggravation down the road
