The stock heads suck, flow almost 100cfm less than the intake youre using. THe cam will want more air too if it can get the air TO the heads but not through them youre beating your head against the wall.
Yes its more money but you wont regret it.

Air in/air out

Thats all I needed to hear. Now I just need to deside on AFR 180 or AFR 195... I don't know if I will ever turn this into a 383. I don't think I need that much power, or I might start having traction issues on the track.

I struggled with the same decision for my setup. The 195's have similar (high) port velocity to older head technology making them perform as well as most 180cc cylinder heads (in lower rpms). With their MUCH higher mid-flow numbers, you don't need nearly as much cam to get tremendous flow -- especially for a TPI under 5.5k rpms.

Either head would work very well, but I liked the idea of getting more flow with the same cam -- creating the best manners for the street. And, even though I also never planned on a 383, I've got one now.

195's provide the room to grow with great results EVEN IF YOU DON'T!

Thanks for the input. I don't know how soon I'm going to buy. I need to save some money!
