Default '91 Shoots ducks

Recently my '91 started falling apart at 4900-5000. I replaced the cap and rotor, (cap was really bad). Now there is no popping and banging but it is like there is a governor coming in, it just goes soft. I've had the car for 18k miles, never replaced the coil or module, but the wires are new. There are no stored codes. Should I replace more ignition parts, or look in other directions? (fuel pressure is solid at 42 psi at point of failure)

I'd go fuel filter and plugs next.

This is a new issue, previously the shift to 2nd at WOT would rattle teeth. Now it doesn't shift because the RPM drops off. As previously stated, fuel pressure is good, so filter must be good. What is the failure symptom of the coil, or module aside from an obvious no-go? Thanks for the replies.

I agree with the others this kind of sound more fuel related. But you say you have checked the fuel system. I has a similar problem once and it turned out to be the cats. They were clogged. Have you checked the cats yet.
