Default LT4 AC Spark Plug

Is the AC spark plug 41-943 - 25166808 the correct plug for my 1996 LT4? I have read that the plats fall of stock LT1 and LT4 spark plugs. The gap on these plugs that have 50,000 miles is .054 or so and the plug looks like it is burnig great and the car runs great. Is this plug one of the PROBLEM plugs that I have read about? As I do not see a puck, disc or plat on the electrode or the ground???T he tip on the electrode is smaller than the stock plugs in my LT1 Trans Am. Information PLEASE.

I believe it is the possible problem plug.

I just ditched those and went with set of Rapidfires. Nearly half the cost so why not.

I was quoted #12's for hard running LT4, but normal LT1's use #14's.

How do you like those rapidfires? Smoother idle? Better performance? Inquiring minds want to know :yesnod: As for heat ranges, I keep hearing conflicting reports for LT1. The 03-30-02 review on the Forum states Rapidfire #12's for street driven LT1's. The f-body.org homepage states Rapidfire #3's cross reference to the stock heat range for LT1's. Now I hear #14 is best. I might try some Rapids if I could be comfortable that I know the proper ones for my '95 street driven (not driven hard... too often) LT1.

Oh yeah, the parts counter guy at one of the Advance Auto Parts stores here told me he "heard" Rapidfires aren't good in fuel injected vehicles  What an idiot!

What is the Rapid Fire part# for my LT4? I looked at the rest of my stock plugs and 5 out of 8 are missing the plat disc on the ground. :cry :chevy

Yes, AC Platinums are problem plugs especially if you drive your car hard.

Do yourself a favor... get NGKs V-Power (Part #TR55). Its a great performance plug and a big favorite on the forum. Gap it .050 and call it a day!

Well I can't comment on the idle quality as I added a HOT cam with the RF's and the idle is not very smooth at all-I do believe it is the cam though.

My guess is for a easy LT1 or LT4 then I would use #12's, otherwise a colder plug like #14 (which I'm running).

I think Hib Halverson posted the info I have...so I trust that. It didn't hurt my new best ET so must be atleast ok:)
