Default Congrats on the Beautiful C5

A lot of interesting comments...they show each person's preferences. I owned a '78 Pace Car that was a show winner and became a garage queen (a very pretty one at that). I bought a 90 C4 yellow festival car (roadster) for a daily driver. The '90 is a great car that I really enjoy driving and pushing to the limits (very fast stop light to stop light)...plus great on the nice days with the top down. Not much of a car for long cruises with the Red River Vettes or the Texoma Area Corvettes. Solution: sell the love of my life (the pace car not my wife) and buy a C6. Bought an '07 Monterrey Red, titanium interior, base coupe A6. The right move since my other love would not let me have 3 Vettes. The '07 Monty is a tremendous car...power...handling...looks...and comfort on the long cruises.

My $.02 is...keep the C4! Each Vette is unique and brings different things to the table. This way you will have the best of two worlds, allows you to keep the miles down on one or the other. As one writer wrote...wait until the newness of the C5 wears off and then make a decision on the C4.

Mike, yes I'm giving up on the 84. I'll post it on CL locally here for $3500 and see what happens. Not in too much of a rush to sell it, but right now it's parked out on the street. For all the work and $$ I've put into it recently, I think it's a pretty fair price.

I don't have a long-term storage solution so it's not feasible to keep it. even if I could keep it, I don't have the time to work on it like I'd want to and don't want to spend what it would cost to make it the way I want - easily $10-$12K. I'd rather sell it to some kid who would otherwise have bought a Hon-duh and start him down the right path.

Sorry, no pics of the road trip. I was travelling light and didn't take a camera. We should have good weather this comming week so hopefully I can get it washed up nicely and get some pictures.

Kheme, I'll keep the site up for as long as people find it usefull.

When I moved the 84 out of the carport yesterday, it was interesting to notice how much it felt like an old-time muscle car compared to the C5. the 84 has that tough rumble and is a little rough till it warms up - things like that. The C5 is just as smooth as any "normal" car and does just about everything that a normal car does. The fun part is getting to hit the gas and hang on for the ride It's also nice to be able to drive along and rock out to great tunes, or just to be able to talk with my wife as we drive like today when we came up to see my mom. Even took my mom to Safeway and she was very surprised at how nicely it drives.

No regrets at all on the purchase.

marc your new vette appears to be splendid. it is a big progress from your yellow pos 84.i guess the legal money from your *** whoopin came in handy.i don’t think any person would buy that vette from you,it needs a paint job and you pointed out engine difficulty with the new intake.

Well I think its a sweet car. Love the color and interior. I am glad for you Marc.
Make sure that C-4 goes to a good home. We want to make sure they stay around.

I do have to agree with 87 vette 81 big girl's comments. I also love the cockpit feel of the C-4. Thats my opinion. The C-5 is a nice car but it feels more like a sedan or regular car.
I think the C-4 has that cockpit feel and you feel more part of the rode and feel like your driving a corvette. At least for me.
But for now, with a daughter in her first year of college, no C-5 for me.
But not to say I am not looking for a older C-3 for me to work on.
I am always looking for a C-3 that I can get and do some work on.
I have one of the two that I want.
Always wanted a C-3 and a C-4. halfway there.

When the going gets tough, upgrade!

Sorry to here your leaving the C4 legends. Nice C5 though. My 84 is also a maintenance headache but that is one reason I bought it (to learn). BTW, I still have not received my renegade. Been about 6 months.
