I posted up a few days ago about my rear tires basically steering the car under acceleration and down shifts. I got it up on jack stands today and the problem was pretty obvious. Looks like a broken tie rod.
Here is the picture of it.
Now my question is do I need to replace both sides and that middle piece that links them above the diff? Or Can I just replace the end? Helppp!!!
Any tips are appreciated too I am new at all this.
I would go ahead and replace the entire assembly. You didn't say how many miles are on the car, but it would be worth getting all new components. Definitely replace both tie rods ends at the same time.
IF the rubber components look dried out or cracked, consider replacing as many pieces as you can do. With the new tie rod ends, you should get an alignment.
it looks like you only *need* to replace the outer, just take some grips and unthread the broken part out of the inner part. but like others say, it could only be a matter of time before the other one goes.
