Default Anyone with 4.27 gears?

Im looking for some info on some much bigger gears than what most usually run in C4's. Its a Dana 44 with 3.07 i believe, and definetly need to make the large jump up since its getting behind a t56 with a .50 6th and i want to make it usable highway driving while still romping on the first 4 gears on the street.

My questions are, has anyone done anything around 4.11 or bigger? Where did you get your gears? Will any dana 44 gears fit in the c4 pumpkin?

I did a search and didn't come up with much.

4.35 in my 12 bolt, but that's probably not what you wanted to hear.

Seeing your avatar got me excited, then i read this . I didn't think wheelies were possible with the irs, hence the excitement!

4.11s in my car. My trans is a ZF6 rather than the T56 you are using, but 6th is also .5:1 and has become more 'useable' on the highway. I believe the C4 D44 requires the 'thick' gear set. I sent my D44 to Drivetrain Specialist (commonly referred to as DTS). They provided the ring & pinion set, rebuild parts and performed the installation/setup. They did excellent work and the gears are as quiet as the original 3.45s. About 1 week turnaround.

I think anything higher than 4.11 and you are going to be shifting A LOT. 4.11s make a very fun car.

I've had a number of gear sets in my 92.... 4.09 (broke), 3.90 and 4.11. I'm putting my Yukon 4.11 ratio back in it currently.

I bought the gear and install kit from Randy's Ring and Pinion.

Regular D44 gear sets will not work in the C4 Corvette D44 HD (without modification). The pinion on the C4's D44 HD is larger and there are different carriers for the regular D44 (requiring "thick or thin" ring gears... I see that jmgtp covered this already.

Just FYI - Yukon Gear offers a 4.56 ratio for the C4's D44 HD as well.

You need to look at which T56 you have before deciding on a rear gear. There are a number of different low gear ratio's in T56's. Rear tire height is important as well.

If you have the (NM6) 2.66 low gear one then it definatly could stand to have the 4.11 rear end or higher.

Now if you have one with the (M29 or M12) 2.97 low gear.... pulling a 4.11 in 1st gear is going to be wheel spin city on street tires but manageable on drag radials or slicks.

If you have the real sucky 1993 only (M28) with the 3.35 low gear.... Just throw it away and get something else. I'm pretty sure they are all blow up by now but you never know....

For comparison - The C4 Corvette's orginal ZF S6-40 trans has a 2.68 low gear and I have found that the 4.11 rear is about perfect for drag racing with the short 315/35r17 drag radial tires (26.5") most of us run.

Gearing in the ZF and T56 is close

411 gear 26 in tire with the T56, perfect performance combo.
Its in an Abody not the Vette but gear/tire diameter is so close it doesnt matter.

Doesnt feel like youre shifting too much/soon and 6th is real useable.

If you got a motor that likes to rpm youll love that setup.
