Default Super Ram/219 Cam Are Going.

Over the past 5 years my vette has basically sat. I guess you can say I've lost interest. Well the spark is back. I am working with a guy that has 20 NHRA records out there. This guy is a genius when it comes to combos. Yesterday we sat down and went over the details and he said the Super Ram is going to be a limiting factor.

He is working with bullet cams to match my combo. He was able to take a 87 camaro with a 9.1 compression 305 Stock TPI full weight car 11.30’s. So I’m Going with a mini ram and doing a one off cam swap. Oh and a 150 shot of NOS.

If you are looking for a Ported Super ram I have one for sale or part trade for a Mini ram 2. The Super ram has been ported by a Pro and polished. Price for the SR is $1350..

Was sitting with no performance upgrade or literally sitting ?
Good to read that the spark is back !!! That's what's all about
i wish my spark was smaller ! im always after one and another thing !

I don't like to read that the SR is a limiting factor while im very proud of it , im starting to enjoy it and mine is not ported at all ! What numbers are you after ? Wow a 305 TPI Camaro in the 11's ? would love to see video of it !

Saw your SR for sale ,its amazing ! i will follow your thread , i might be following you in the future.

My internal spark always wants a MR421, that's possible if im able to sell my 355/SR complete engine
But that would be a reality once i put some cool numbers on the track i know its possible
i got very good coin for my original 128 heads ($1000 with some edelbrock elite covers).-
Im keeping an eye on your plans.

I started a new bussines from scratch and the car sat on the side line. Now the business is going great so I have time to focus on the car again. If I did it all over I would have started off with a 421 CID. I went to ZZ4 crate to a 383 and it would have been cheaper to go with a 421 and be done with it.

I am thinking of a 421 in the back of my mind. The problem is nobody has money these days to buy my old stuff or I would have a 421 built.

Seems like you are one or several steps forward, are you my crystal ball ? haha
Im starting my business all over again and if its great, i will be injecting more $ (all is $ when its vette about) into my 87,now things are lazy so i have to focus on my job.

I went from a zz4 cam/128 head/tpi combo to a SR/AFR195/219
i did wrong because when i did the rebuild i didnt make a 383 out of it (forged crank pistons and rods) but im still on stock crank and rods but i used .30 over hyper pistons.

Im happy with what i have ...but in the back of my mind ..im never happy.
Im currently thinking (im getting a brake upgrade, soon drag radials) in two or three upgrades but i have always wanted a 421 (if i sell) ...if i don't sell ...i might get crazy and make an all forged 383 !

My probem (maybe yours as well) is this :

When i focus on work ...i totally forget about my car (it was parked from sept 2009 to sept 2010) and when i focus on my car ...i put all my time and effort on it ..and my business starts to go down ...

it neverends ..but at least we are doing what we like !

Miniram rocks. Easy R&R and it got me .3 over AS&M runners, Edelbrock base, right out of the box.

What's up 88, is the SR considered LTR yet ?
To me its not a real short runner but something like a midrunner so to speak
Im very tempted with the short runner ones !
Sorry for being more present than the OP on this thread but its really interesting !

Love is a very strong word. I think Richy Rich wants a change, and the SR has to go.

honestly i think a 400+ci engine in one of theses cars is an absolute waste.. there is no way the irs is going to stand up to it and if you think it will you are just lying to yourself. i a well built 383 will give you more then enough power and torque to be blowing driveline parts out from under the car.. unless you go ahead and do a solid axle its just not worth it in my opinion. i think people get these delusions in there head and don't realize what they get themselves into.

Its because you always want more and more ...
I know about the Solid rear / IRS issue ..i won't be doing that.
A bulletproof D44 should solve the problem but it seems that does not exist

It all depends on what you want to do. If you are only planning on drag racing, I agree that a 383 has plenty of power to break the D44 as well as larger engines. If you want to be able to keep up with a new Z06 or ZR1 from a roll you will need 400+ cubic inches and it will not break the D44.

I like to drag race but I also want to out accelerate a new ZR1 vette from a roll, so big cubic inch is a must. The bigger the engine the milder running it will be for the same power output as the smaller engine (More street friendly)

i have nothing but good things to say about Jim,he is been a close and true friend he has helped me a lot.

I have always wanted that, a BarthPerformance 421 ! Budget is the problem,i don't have the money to do it.

Now if i sell my 355 as a unit ,its a very real possibility,im sure that i can sell it if i can put my car in the radar if i attend some drag racing events and i make good numbers or if i win most of the races.
Drag radials are next on the list and with my combo i should be able to do something good.

If i do i will put the word out, the engine is for sale. I would gladly sell it , then all the funds would go to a 421 obviously built by Jim ! He knows it ! Its been my #1 plan !
