Valve Seals

Default Valve Seals

Can someone please help me verify if the Valve Seals that I purchased from my local Autozone are correct. I was under the impression that the intake/exhaust valve stems seals where different. I have a stock 95 LT1. The first picture shows what I recieved from Autozone and the second picture is what I thought they should be. The second picture came from an article in Vette Mag from which they were working on a 92 LT1. Unfortunately my car is still in storage or I would have pulled the old one to compare. Could the difference in years be the issue? Not sure. Any help would be apprecitated.

your first picture looks like seals for the exhaust valves. If you note in your second picture they look like the seals to the left in the picture. The seals to the right in the second picture are for the intake.

I used Fel-pro INTAKE seals for both the intake and the exhaust. This had been recommended in several posts that I found when I changed out my seals many years ago.

I would take the seals back and get the Fel-pro seals.

As I was heading to take back the seals I noticed that these are Fel Pro part #72861. Are these the ones that you used?

The first picture is LT1 valve seals, the second picture L98's.

On my 1984 it was definitely the lower picture, exhausts on the left. The exhausts were harder than the intakes. The intakes were rubbery soft and had a clear plastic sleeve in the kit which you put over the top of the stem to shield the soft seal from the keeper grooves. The exhausts would not fit over the sleeve so I didn't use it with them. I posted the whole job with pics here in the spring if you look in my posts (not many yet) it's there.
