Default Been a busy week...Lots o' pics.

Been busy the past 4-5 days. Started out with the engine freshly pulled from the car last Thursday. By Sunday, the transmission was bolted up with the C-Beam. Had a few setbacks, but nothing substantial.

I want to thank a few people:

Apple's Machine shop in Yorktown, VA. They had the block and heads back to me in less than a day, and overnighted pistons for me, and pressed them on the rods free of charge.

Atlantic Speed. Super fast shipping and always good to deal with.

Z51 Performance (Bill Bordeau, AKA ZFDoc) Awesome product and lightning fast shipping.

What was done:
Cleaned and honed the block.
Polished crankshaft main and rod journals.
New Clevite H series bearings. (Main and Rods)
New camshaft bearings.
ARP main bolts.
New flat top Speed Pro hypereutectic pistons with 4 valve reliefs. (One of the original pistons had a broken ring land between the compression rings.)
New oil pump. Melling standard volume/pressure.
Canton road race pan and pickup.
New Comp Cams camshaft.
New hydraulic roller lifters.
Heads were cleaned, decked 0.010", New double valve springs, seals, valve guides, retainers, seals, and keepers.
Crane 1.6 roller rockers
New intake manifold. (wiring is a mess, going carb)
New Headman Elite's
New SPEC aluminum flywheel.
New SPEC Stage 1 clutch.
New clutch slave cylinder.
New Hurst shifter (Thank you Atlantic Speed)
New Hurst shifter Ball (Thank you again, Atlantic Speed, since Hurst was absolutely no help)
Z51 Performance C-Beam Plates (Thanks so much Bill Bordeau, they are amazing)
TPiS A/C Delete

I'm still waiting on parts to finish the fuel system. I have a DeWitt's radiator on the way. Working on the exhaust now, a little at a time.

On to the pictures!!!!

Let the teardown begin:

It looks like a hurricane and a tsunami went through it right now. I will post some when I get things picked up. I like everything so far. Haven't had a chance to fire it up yet. At least until I get the fuel plumbing ran.

You mentioned ARP Main bolts. What about the three extended bolts for the baffle/windage tray? Are they ARP too? I'm looking to do ARP main bolts or studs for my rebuild and am not sure about these three. I found an ARP main stud kit for sbc with windage tray (ARP-234-5501), but not sure if it'll be right.

Since I used the Canton Road Race pan, the stock main bolts wouldn't allow the pan to be installed. The ARP Main bolts I used were PN 134-5001. If you are using the stock oil pan, I don't see a problem with using the windage tray. Keep in mind that if you are going with main studs, it's a very good idea to get the mains align honed.

Mains are getting align honed so no problem there. I saw the first picture of your block back from the machine shop and saw the windage tray bolts on #3 and 4 main and thought that these were ARP from somewhere. Now I realize that it was before the ARPs and they are the stock bolts. I guess I'll order the 234-5501 kit and see if it has the three for the windage tray. Thanks for the input and good luck with your project.

Thanks for all the kind comments from everyone. I have a huge order coming in Friday that should button things up and allow me to hear it run. There will definitely be a video on that.

Just a little update. Got the exhaust almost done, just waiting on mufflers now. I won't be going all the way out, They will dump just before the rear diff.

For some reason I read "garage" instead of "gauge". But as requested, here is the pic I had just after I installed it. And I love it. Only thing I don't like is that the high beam indicator is too bright at night.
