Default Brake Pad question?

I am going to replace my brake pads and brake lines. What brake pads should I go with. What is the difference between carbon brakes pads and ceramic brake pads? Also, I am not putting these on a track car I just want the best performance with minimal brake dust.

A lot of people like the Hawk Pads.

Last time I changed them a few years ago, I went the (very expensive) Delco ceramic pads. Very expensive is an understatement. However, I don't ever see any dust nor has it ever developed any noise. Been about three years and still no issues. I highly recommend them.

Before that I used the Autozone Performance Friction pads. After a while, they did seem to squeel. I think Autozone discontinued them.

Went with Hawk HPS on my '94 which has the 13" rotors in front. These pads make a little dust however much less than the OEM pads. Slightly firmer pedal.

Default I would recommend going with ceramic brake pads

I have used them on both my corvettes and my daily driver.
They will eliminate the brake dust issue.
I just changed them on my 1990 corvette and purchased them from carquest.
For the fronts and rears it set me back about $200.00.

Check out this pad for street use

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I just called Hawk Performance brake pads and they recommended for my 88 Vette that I go with the HPS pads over the ceramic. Never game me a reason, just said I will enjoy them so much more. Just thought I would pass it on.

Im running hawk hp+ which were a night/day improvement over ebc greenstuff.

Hp+ squeak though when cold and dust a lot.

A lot of people say great things about hawk hps.
They don't squeak.

Go with hawk.
