When I swapped over to the solid top I had to redo the headliner and its already starting to come loose again. I used the good 3M adhesive but I think the insulating pad is starting to come apart and even if I redo the headliner it will probly keep coming loose. I also lost headroom because of the thick fiberglass pad. Has anyone used a thinner insulator like ensolite foam or similar to replace the fiberglass one? I figure maybe two thin layers of foam would offer the same heat resistance and give me back a bit of room. The 3M adhesive should have a better base to stick to as well.
I remember on the Power Block TV show, Trucks I believe, they re-did a headliner for a truck restoration. You have to remove all the old foam from the hard fiber form and glue new rubber padding on and then the new headliner material.
I put two layers of thin Duct insulation - but didnt get around to the headliner yet
In the summer when the outside is 900 degs. and I cant put my hand on it longer than 5 sec. --- the inside is just warm to the touch
PS - it's the peal and stick-ie stuff --- hasn't come off in two years now
Did you hafta get this at a A/C wholesaler or is it available at HD or Lowes? Lowes has a kind of bubble wrap like the shipping stuff lined with foil which I didnt like. I would like to find a sheet of the black dense foam stuff. I have seen it in narrow rolls for wrapping the copper freon lines but not anything wider than 6 inches.
