I ran muffler eliminators on my 85 with the stock manifolds and cat. I hated them. They sounded good outside but the drone inside was annoying. I ditched them as soon as I could afford a decent exhaust system.
I assume you realize the headers are not legal. I could never find any that were CA approved.
To the other Ca guys can i get any with muffler eliminators.
I've been running eliminators for years.
The truth is the mufflers have no bearing on passing smog. The muffler is not a required component. Weather you want to run eliminators or mufflers does not matter for smog.
If you're talking about sound levels...
On an otherwise stock system eliminators won't make you car rediculously loud. I currently have the stock system (stock headers cat and front y-pipe) with eliminators and it's VERY quiet.
When I run the same eliminators with my Hooker long tubes and 3 inch front y-pipe with random tech cat it does get louder but still well within "reason" probably because of the cat. I've never had the cops call me on it. It's still rather quite at cruise and only loud when accelerating. Eliminators sound great with the top down.
Run open long tube headers and then you'll surely get noticed by the cops.
I drove the car with the open headers up to the gas station it was empty when I was leaving bunch of Harlley guys pulled in as I was pulling out they all turned there heads made them look.

I've done that a few times myself when in the middle of swapping back to long tubes after smog just to see what it sounded like before attaching the 3 inch front y-pipe. It scares the chit out of me when I fire up the car. Every piece of trim in the interior rattles and buzzes. The stuff I had hanging on the walls of the garage where rattling and buzzing with the car idling out in the driveway. I drove around the block and set off every car alarm on the street and everyone turned their heads.
