I have a 1993 Corvette Coupe and it is leaking oil at the drain plug. I just changed my oil and purchased new bolt and new gasket and it is leaking. Could it be that the oil pan is stripped? Is this a common problem? Any advise to fix the leak would greatly be appreciated!
at one time parts houses carried slightly oversize drain plugs to address just this sort of problem. perhaps they still do ?
also, try wrapping the threads of your present plug liberally with teflon (pipe) tape.
Teflon fixes a lot of thread problems You can even spool off a length of the tape, roll it into a string and wrap all of it at the base of the bolt threads and it will form its own washer. Make sure you wrap it in a clockwise motion so it wont spin out as you tighten it.
thanks guys! I put a small amount of rtv on bolt head and it doesn't leak anymore. It was leaking pretty bad, not just a drop or two. I noticed a small gouge in the oil pan where the head of the bolt makes contact and may be causing the problem.

Thanks again for all the quick replys.
thats exactly how mine is,even with a new seal, still leaked.Thats why I do my own oil change and don't take it somewhere they do crap like that and damage your pan, plug ect.
