Default Timing Chain / Harmonic balancer

Hi,
since it will be winter for some more time and I can´t drive the Vette anyway, I think about doing the timing chain and the harmonic balancer.

None of them seem to be an acute problem, but with 85k miles and 23 years I feel better to get them done.
Maybe it will cure the ultra light vibration at idle....

I have a Haynes manual, not yet factory manual but I think I can do the job with some prior hints from you!

My first question: Single or Double Roller timing set?
As for double roller, will this fit?
CLOYES Part # 91145 Street True® Roller Set; High Performance (rockauto, around 70 US$)

Any hp losses from running a double roller?
Anything needs to be grinded/modifies to fit?

As for the harmonic balancer I´d use a ACDELCO Part # 12551537 , seems stock replacement.

The engine runs strong and excellent, I did a complete top end overhaul when I did my headgaskets so I do not want to bent valves or anything....please let me know any precautions.....

Best regards
Benjamin

In case the single roller would be a better choice , will this be ok?

If you go double roller you may need to grind part of the oil galley boss above the cam to get it to fit. I had to do this on my 89 L98 but afterwards everything fit fine. I used the S.A. Gear performance set.

Hm...ok, that sounds doable....

One more thing, most good Timing Sets have several keyways which retard or advance timing by + - 4 degrees.

Advancing should bring a little more low end power, but are there any drawbacks, such as idle quality or emission problems?

I mostly drive in the lower rpms, therefore maybe worth doing it while I´m in there?
