Ok gang I hope I can get the anwers or GREAT comments as too what is the best scanner out there for the buck.
I am looking for a unit that will work on our C-4's, 90's chevy trucks, the daughters RX8 and wifes BMW.
I am not looking to spend several $$$$$ thousands. I have been looking at a Snap-on MT2500 with extra software catridges. What about soft ware for a laptop would that be better and more functional?
What is the full extent of what you really want to do? If you are looking to just read codes, reset codes, and/or scan data, take a look at what Actron offers on their website.
Checking codes and reset is fine, at least I would know what is going on when the light comes on but I would like to review more data if possible. for the injection system, ignition, exhaust. I would like to tweek the ECM.
On the kids Rx8 it can be a pain not to mention the 530i. On the c4's (L98 & ZR1) a whole bunch easier. We like to mod them and just need to set the system some.
Hi Wro... I just posted this link to another thread and your ? is about the same. I have just ordered this device ($99 + $10 shipping) for my laptop. It looks good but will post when I receive it and can evaluate. http://obdtester.com/obdtester
I have a mt2500 and it works great for diagnosing problems and viewing data but will not tune your car or make any changes to the car. It is only a real good scan tool after you learn how to use it.
