Default Rear spring broke.....

I am putting a complete poly kit and i finished the back and lowered it and it was sitting high and the tires were towed it so i thougt it would relax and seattle down. Well i had the front up and removing the control arms and i heard some creaking in the back and noticed that the back had squated down and it was a little lower than when i first started but i had the front up so i thought that what was causing that. Well i finished the front today lowered it and it was still very low in the rear so i looked underneith the rear and the damm spring broke. Tell me am i sappose to lower it loose and tighten it did i do something wrong becouse the front is high till it relax's and dont want the front spring to break.....

Thats bad news.

Did you clean the rear spring with a solvent degreasor ? Or use an acidic or caustic cleaner on it ?

I Never Knew that you are not supposed to use any cleaners on a Corvettes fiberglass leaf springs till I joined C4 a few years and started reading.

Just wipe the fiberglass springs clean with a damp or water wetted rag.

Most cleaners will attack the fiberglass resin overnight or sooner.

Also never place a jack directly underneath a fiberglass leaf spring. If nicked by metal, the spring will fail or break in short order.

No, it was the solvent that did the damage.

We can't even use soap to clean the rear spring? Also with the solvent, this is the first I've heard of this.

The wife use "SmugMug" to store our photos.

Pete K. is going to be upset at you tonight for accidently uploading a Virus onto his laptop.
