Default what should my next step be?

i have a automatic 96 rvette with lt1 motor. everything is stock except this, i got the melrose exhaust system with the headers and i have a catback system . Now i was wondering what my next mod should be? im in jax florida so no emmission laws. but idk if i should get muffler eliminators installed, i have them but not sure if i wanna go through with this. so if i do install the eliminators what should be the next mod?

What is your goal with the car? Street cruiser? Drag racer? Autocross / roadracer? Show car?

You need to decide that before you start buying parts. You could easily end up with the wrong combination and spend money on the wrong parts. And if you aren't doing the work yourself it gets real expensive real quick to replace parts two or three times until you get it right.

Just food for thought.....

By the way, I'm in Jacksonville too.

The key question!

Most mods are not cheap on the labor side and most good mods do require a fair amount of it.

Do you have a time goal in mind for the track?

You could get into the low 12's (maybe lower) with cam, Good torque converter (2800 - 3000), 3.45 rear with drag radials, some good head work (porting and rockers). and a GOOD tune.

Now if you are paying someone to do it... bring a really FAT wallet.

When you say track, do you mean drag race or autocross? Completely different worlds and different approaches.

well as i thought bout it...i wont be able to take it to the track that much anyways. the nearest track is about 3 hours away so i would be mainly driving it around in the city. maybe once a year i would take it to the track. so is their any mods i could do that would be a good idea? i wouldnt mind spending alot of money in this car because i will have it forever.

Be honest. You want to street race your carIts fun as long as you only endanger yourself & the other driver & in a place secluded & away from other people.I asked the same question & was told same thing-gears & converter.Remember that a cam will work with gears & converter so keep that in mindDISCLAIMER-to those that say don't street race, you did it to when you were younger,so don't judge

If moneys' no object, check out Golan engines. If you have the money, buy a complete engine with all the good parts already installed so all you have to do is install it,& have it tuned.Plus you will have a warranty. But still get some gears & full exhaust(long-tube headers, dual pipes with a x-pipe pipe,& Borla mufflers(best sound) or Corsa mufflers(eliminate drone).Borla sounds best in my opinion, especially with long-tube headers. Will need a performance transmission to handle all that power(if automatic).I would look into getting a 6 speed auto transmission(automatic),again if moneys no object. With the 6 speed you will get great gas mileage, have a higher top speed,it will shift smoother & faster,& you can have some shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel.I pretty sure they make a drop-in 6 speed auto for the Lt-1 engine. With all that power you will need upgraded brakes.Get the C6 ZO6 brakes. There cheaper than aftermarket Baer or Brembo kits. They make an adapter to mount them to the C4s which makes it a simple bolt-on.I think the C6 ZO6 brakes look better too.Put a Dana 44 in the rear to handle the power reliablly.Get some nice rims & quality tires(I like the C6 calloway rims as their very light & look amazing, but are very expensive). For tires maybe Pirellis' or a good cheaper tire is Kumho Ecstas.Get some chassis braces so it stiffens up the chassis so the ride is better & more controlled. This would be my dream C4.Again,if moneys no object
