Finally headers i can afford

I like the "buy American" theme of this thread. It's why I bought my car. But, I also like the "buy it for a great price" threads too. With the age/value of the C4 generation, headers should be in the $450-$600 range (IMO), with entire exhaust systems double that. Granted, some people will want to vest in stainless hoping their exhaust and car lasts for years and years. I can appreciate that too. OTOH, builders don't necessarily "plan" on a 400+ HP engine going as long as the OEM unit.
When people build for power, there's a huge outlay in cost. Vendors smart enough to find ways to lower costs (especially in economic times like these) are the ones who will find the most success. The exception would be for products targeted to the elite. Unfortunately, C4's aren't in that class.
If there's a lawsuit to be filed (for copyright infringement), I think SW should persue it. The product inappropriately linked (according to forum rules) doesn't LOOK bad but who knows. I know of at least one person in this thread who recommended to stick with quality while he, himself took this kind of risk. (So did I). People are gonna do what they want (and CAN) do. Someone here will take a shot at these headers. Even though I already have my headers, It'll still be interesting to see what shakes out.
The interesting thing about headers on C4s is there's lots of variance from one car to the next. Even with consistent manufacturing, you gotta wonder if some fitments issues will exist -- no matter how good the header is. If you buy headers, be prepared to beat, bang, bend, or otherwise jump through a couple of hoops to get everything to fit -- and to get all the braces to work. It's just the nature of the beast. If you're not ready to do that, I wouldn't recommend buying any header.
Edit: Oh yeah....one more thing....This OCX company is stupid IMO. If they've got the ***** to jack someone's design, at least they should have considered altering it to avoid suit. My first thought is these should be offered in sterling-coated steel. Besides going for longevity, lots of other people like to go for looks. Jet-hot coated headers get my attention.

They went in my 92 like buttah I tell you. I like them enough they are staying in the car when they pull the 350 and drop in the 383!
The Cliche's on the previous page are annoying. Spoken by people who haven't actually seen the product! Did anyone read the thread that I posted the link to?
I appreciate quality as much as ANYONE. But let's get real here. We're talking about piping, welded together, of a certain diameter and tube length. There is no "magic" in a brand name (that mysteriously makes more power), and if tyhe product meets the criteria, and has reasonable longevity for the price...what is wrong with that? Nothing.
Several have commented about the quality (which they know nothing of, first hand). Again, lets get real here. They're better quality than the popular Hooker Super comp header...are they not?
*Stainless Steel -which is probably overkill anyway on a "sunny Sunday's" sports car (doesn't see rain or salt),
*9/16" flange,
*SS band clamps... how much "quality" do we really NEED in these cars?? The whole "America's finest sports car" is a bunch of crap. It's a Small block Chevy that we're talking about here, and when it comes to producing power, a TUBE is a TUBE.
Story time: When I bought my house, 6 years ago, which is at 7000' elevation and gets 400"/year annual snow fall, I bought a Honda hydrostatic snowblower -a 928 for those familiar. It is a $3500 snow blower. That is a full $2000 MORE than most friction-drive, snow blowers. You could say that it is a "boutique" product -like ARH/SW genre headers. Here is the difference, however; When it snows 48" in 24 hours, or when it rains for 24 hours on a 3' snow pack...then freezes and sets up solid....the Honda chogs through that chit no matter what, and throws it up to 40' away. Easy. My neighbors are f'ed b/c their crappy friction drive machines simply cannot handle the volume /weight/density of the snow pack, and the can NOT throw the snow up and over the 10' snow banks! Anyway, my point is that the Honda HS928 is a premium priced product...that absolutely gives tangible, "premium" results -it can do work that no other snow blower can.
Headers, it's not so clear and obvious. If they dyno well, fit the car, and last 5, 10 years or more, what can a header that costs 2, 3, 4x as much REALLY provide other than the psycological comfort that you bought "the best"...even if it really doesn't return anything for you?
In the other thread, the OBX headers fit fine, installed in 4 hours (on a C6), and made 24 hp and 30 something tq. Another poster in the same thread has had a set on his car for 5 years, drag and road course use, no issues. What is they missing?
The issue of stealing designs? I agree, that practice is wicked lame. I hate it. I don't know what to make of that, morally, but that's what it is; a moral issue. You can't patent a bunch of tubes, welded to a flange and collector, and the tubes' shape.
I'd rather have ARH/SW/EM headers, and "feel good" about my expensive purchase...but the fact is, if all I could afford was OBX, I'd have those over....nothing. Getting 80-100% of the gains, for 1/2 the money is certainly an appealing situation.

.. Ow??? Hey!!! I liked mine...... but those where the tri-y's... Not much to compare too other than truck headers?
But I can't put much faith in the product OR power numbers of a Company w/o a Phone #!!!!
Pretty sure we all offer conservative advice and take radical risks ourselves???
I would not $$$$ risk on these...................
