Default LTPS - changing wheels....

I have a 96 CE coupe and just bought a set of black GS wheels that I hope to install in the next week or 2. I just got the car last week and just found out about LTPS in later C4's (prior vettes were an 86 and 80).

How can I tell if I have the LTPS system?

What do I need to pull from the old wheels and transfer to the new wheels? I assume the sensors are able to be moved to new wheels?

Thanks in advance,

If you have them they will be under the tire mounted with a big hose type clamp around the wheel with the sensor mounted to the band, each wheel has a different color, like yellow, red, blue and orange. If there not there you most likely do not have the system

Hey Joe, thanks for the quick reply. Any way to tell ahead of time, if I have the LTPS option? I don't have run-flats, if that's a sign.

Anything I can check with the LTPS light on the dash? If it comes on, or doesn't come on, when the key is turned, does that tell me anything?

Thanks again

My 95 was missing two of them and while driving after a few minutes the light would go on. the wheels will have a sticker on the that warns a person working on the wheels that the car has the system, so if they are factory wheels you could check. Good luck and don't be afraid to PM me for anything I can help you with neighbor.

There will be a long narrow decal along the wheel rim with real small lettering informing someone of the sensors under the tire.

Sensors are usually mounted opposite the valve stem.

I have to change mine on to my new rims.

LTPWS and ASR Lights come on within 100 feet. But the ASR OFF light comes on before I move an inch.

Open the storage compartment lid behind the passenger seat.
With the lid open, you should be able to see the RPO List (option codes) for your car.

Look for code: UJ6

That is the code for the Low Tire Pressure Indicator system.
So, if that code is listed you have LTPS
