Well, my curiosity got the best of me so I went out and checked my balancer, it looks just the way it did when I put it on so that's that, it's staying right where it's at. Incidentally, mine is the 8000 series, the cheapest ones they make.
My memory is one of my worst enemies but I want to say it's 3 years old, probably 4. I have not been easy on the car but it has not been raced either. Whenever I drive it I always let it stretch it's legs a bit. Forum rules prevent me from saying just how much I stretch them,
Hm, well I guess it will hold up for now.
I will change it for a high quality one when summer comes though.
I am not very hard on my car as I respect its 23 years of life. But sometimes it is tempting being on the Autobahn where you can drive as fast as you want.
Its definetely overkill but I will only run the ATI super damper or a TCI rattler on my motors. Ive never had any issues with either of these. PP is just such a mixed bag. Ive seen some of their gear that is just worthless ****, like intake manifolds that dont bolt up & ports dont align with stock heads. Ive got friends who run PP fuel system parts and they love them. They have a fuel pressure regulator for carb engines that run EFI pumps that my buddy raves about cause its a lot cheaper than the aeromotive version.
Ive been hearing lots of great things about the dampers from innovators west, but be prepared to pay. Anyone run one of these units?
I know it is overkill, but the cheaper ones seem to be a gamble.
I need one I can rely on. High performance engine or not, if the damper breaks it can do quite some damage.

Now the intakes are a different story, I bought one for my dd and when I put it on I had a massive vacuum leak. Come to find out they did not machine the area right above the intake ports to clear the small ridge that is on the top of the heads just below the valve cover. The intake was sitting on top of this ridge and not even sealing. I removed the manifold and ground this area down to clear that ridge and then everything was just fine, in fact it is a good manifold for a mild engine. The ports lined up perfectly. It gives good power while giving real decent mileage. Keep in mind that my intake was bought when PP was a very new company. FWIW my intake and my balancer are going to stay right where they are.
