Default Cleaning intake runners

The inside of the TPI runners are a pain to get clean! I'm taking my heads in next week for hot tank, magnaflux, and decking. Will hot tanking get the crud from the inside of the runners or do I keep scrubbing till carpel tunnel sets in!

I didn't think you could dip aluminum in a hot tank or magnaflux the aluminum heads.

Find a machine shop or a race shop that has a parts tumbler. I take my stuff to S&S in Houston and Allen puts the parts in this tumbler that has pellets in it. You add soap/water and turn it on for an hour. You parts come out polished like chrome inside and out. It is also suppose to pick up CFM because it polishes out the areas you cant reach.

You could always douse them with simple green and soak them in piping hot water in your kitchen sink. Better yet the wifes jacuzzi tub, heads and a block will fit in there too..

Very true! I had mine pulled at the time because I was changing out the injectors, that way they got the royal treatment of cleaning and I could overspray all I wanted! Lol

Carb cleaner worked a miracle on mine. Took them off and lightly scrubbed the tighter spots by hand with a toothbrush and carb cleaner. Then I soaked them overnight. Came out completely clean! Don't know if simple green is safe to use on engine parts. It's come up a million times that it either is or used to be very corrosive to the point where it would continue to eat through metal metal bolts that would fall out of aircraft on the flight line. The Army and Air Force banned it's used years ago. Just something to keep in mind I guess.
