Default LT1 upgrade

Jim Pace has a package to upgrade the LT1. It comes with Lt4 heads, hot cam, 1.6 roller rockers, and ?. They claim this will make an LT1 run 425hp!!!
Is this possible?...and are they measuring it at the flywheel or RWHP?

So kinda hopeful thinking to me. They did say the chip would have to be updated to get full advantage of the changes. I would also think new injectors, and hotter ignition would be in order, as well as headers and gasket matched & polished intake. Any thoughts.

Go here and read this article. This is basically what they're referring to. http://www.moreperformanceinc.com/lt4artic.htm

Interesting website. Thanks for the link.

Not sure about 425 hp at the flywheel on a LT1 just from a hot-cam kit...(looking at their packages).

I HOPE that is true....I would be VERY HAPPY for that for only 3500. But, I think you got to add in the extra 1800 for LT4 CNC heads to get up there.

Maybe I am

yes the heads would require cnc or trade porting to achieve that horsepower range... the stock lt4 made 330fwhp, even though it may have been conservative.. it is rather hard to swallow that the hot cam alone would produce 95 fwhp... because this basically is what they are saying.. i have both lt1 and lt4 vettes and have tried a few combos on them and i love the hot cam but it needs some heads to wake it up and do what it was ground for! also.. LT4 Heads are great but the main desire to own these heads is certainly not for their as cast design but for the availability of stock casting material to use to reshape and contour the ports themselves. that is the primary limitation of the LT1 heads, however; I for one will still use LT1 heads any day of the week.. they are not charity case heads as some might think. and with some insightful porting work can surprise even the AFR headed owners.. case in point.. to verify.. i am going to port a spare set of heads and this go around use the bigger valves and push the port walls to their integral limit and i am going to use them with the exact same cam that was in my fathers car. we have identical set-ups except his lt4 heads and intake all else is exactly equal down to gears and exhaust systems.. and i will see if i can't best his lt4 heads that i ported. (mildly ported with stock valves, a stage I port job by most standards).

Sorry for the tangent. thinking out loud.. but its a good setup.. its a good set of heads to have in the future for porting or if your willing to spend the money now, they would lend themselves super for the cause. just a matter of what order you plan on doing things and what your current budget will allow. best of luck and if you'd be interested in having heads ported i would be happy to talk with you about some options. shoot me an email!

Best regards,
Chris
