Default What Sensor?

There is some kind of sensor located in the block kinda between #6 and #8. I checked my FSM and it doesnt really have a good diagram of the sensors but it looks like a fan override sensor. The only other one on that side of the engine is the ESC (knock sensor?) but it looks like it is closer to the front.

Anyway, I broke the sensor actually separating the plastic part the wiring clip goes into from the body of the sensor and I need to know how critical it is and where I may be able to get a replacement.

TIA

What year ?
Only early cars it is a fan switch ; on late it is the temp gauge sender unit

Knock sensor is lower down in the block above pan rail directly below #6 cyl

Sorry, its an '85. Just figured folks would check my profile. I am a bit lazy Temp gauge is working fine as are all gauges. Fan comes on normally, dunno why it would have an override. A/C?

I think he's right. The fan switch (w/o looking at my car). They sell the low temp ones. Look at a supporting vendors website, and make sure it looks like the one you broke. Those factory ones don't turn the fans on until 230 degrees or close to it. I know Eckler's has it. They have a link over there on the left....

That is why I asked ; many differences in main fan control across the C4 years

85 is one year only hybrid setup ;
has main fan controlled by the ECM ( from CTS ) BUT with a mech over ride switch
'84 only had mech control
'86+ only had ECM
All years have some form of engagement when A/c runs

And like the man said above;
if someone can't be bothered to supply basic year / trans / mods info when asking for help , then I can't be bothered looking for it

This certainly wasnt what I meant by my comment and I apologize if you thought that way. It was meant more as a joke as I usually do put the year in my posts, but forget sometimes. I always appreciate the help given here.
