Default New engine and trans. how do I start this thing

ok guys, putting the plugs and wires in and about to start it up..

1994 6spd. New engine rebuild.

new clutch and flywheel, new comp cam, rods, springs, valves, 1.6 roller rockers.

My question is what should I do when I first start this thing? Like high revs or...

This is my first engine rebuild I have ever done and don't know the list of things to do with what is stated above as far as new parts.

Modern roller cam engines don't need the 20 min @ 2000 rpm to run the cam in that flat tappet engines do
make sure oil pressure and coolant gauges are working properly before startup and monitor those for anything out of the ordinary when running.

Has engine been pre primed?

I dont know about a new motor, but on my cam break in's, I always prime the motor. Then I run the car for about 5 mins at about 2000 rpm, then turn it off. Then I run the car for 5 mins, then repeat the cycle about 4 times. After that, i'm off. So run the engine for 5 mins. then turn off. Keep doing it, until you feel you broke it in.

How do I pre-prime the engine? As of right now, I don't have any coolant in there, no fuel lines hooked up and oil 3 quarts in there with the filter to get SOME oil in and help keep things wet.

You'll have to pull the intake to properly prime the oil. Without doing that, pull the fuel pump fuse and the coil wire, then turn the engine over until you see oil pressure.

What I do is start the engine, check for leaks, and make sure everything is good. Set timimg (If Applicable) and let it get to temp. If it's a solid roller, I now shut off the engine and adjust valves hot. Then I dump the oil and filter. Cheap insurance and you get the initial break in oils and metals out of the engine. Then take it out and drive it and check the tune.
