Hey Walt, it's good to hear you've got it together and running now, hang in there & you'll get sorted out! I agree w/Mick, I had a bad O2 and my car wouldn't run worth a damn no matter what I did. Are you logging? If so the cross counts will tell the story.....no matter what you do it won't smooth out with a bad O2. Congrats brotha stay the course, your getting close
Hey Tim, good to hear from ya, hope you have been well. I will go and grab a new o2 today and throw it in. I am just going to run a new wire from the CTS sensor to the ECM and see if it throws the code 14.
I do not have a data logger yet. I am going to have to get one this week.
I feel bad because Mseven has been trying to help me out and I dont have the tools to answer his questions.
What is the best system for datalogging for the price? I was looking at the datamaster but I am unsure. Even if the system can read and write that may be better. Perhaps a Moates system. I will order what you guys recommend this week. Thanks again everyone for the replies, Walt
Ok this is going to sounds stupid and basic but make sure th chip is seated fully in the ECM. Since it sits upsidedown when the ECM is bolted in place, mine lossened up on me and started acting just as you described. Mine was spitting raw fuel out the tail pipes and wanted to stall.

I will check it. I will pull it out and reinstall it. Good idea. I will let you know if it works. Thank you for the reply.
I removed the ecm and looked at the chip. I moved it around and it felt loose. So i pushed it in and it clicked. I did throw a code last time i fired it for an invalid mem-cal. Kubs good call.
Next up I went to go replace the o2 sensor and it was only finger tight. Thats my fault, and i wont try and make a excuse for it.
I tested the CTS input at plug c16 of the ecm and it read 2.5 volts. I think that is good.
I just changed out the oil again because it had the sent of fuel due to running rich.
My buddy should be here in 20 min or so and I am going to fire it up.
I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks again..

Does PCM4Less send a complete, new MEMCAL or use a piggy-back adapter like Moates? Reason I ask is if there's any way you can plug it in backwards. Can you break/bend a pin?

No problem...without a doubt Data Master is the best particularly for 90-91. To get the tune dialed in you will need to send logs to Alvin so that he can make proper changes. You wil find that not only for data acquisition, it will be one of the best tools you own to understand exactly whats going on with sensor input, fueling etc.etc. You will additionally need to purchase an aldl cable.
The moates systems (APU1, OSTRICH) are great products if you are tuning yourself or uploading a tune being emailed to you.

PCMforless uses the piggyback/ROM board like what Moates sells.

Greggpenn and Kubs you have solved my problem. Thank you gentlemen.
When I connected the stock MEMCAL to the pcmforless memcal I placed it one row of pins off.
I have not had a chance to start it yet. I think we can all agree on two things, that was probably the problem and if you ever meet me do not let me install a chip in your car.
Does anyone know if this would have done any damage to my ECM?
I will be buying a Moates setup with the Data Master. I would like to learn what is going on with my car in the future.
After I start it I will let you guys know how it ran. I will also get a little video clip of it and post it.
Also I would like to thank everyone who took the time to reply and try and help me sort out this issue. Thanks again, Walt.

No damage. The Memcal is only read. When plugged in wrong, it just can't be accessed. (If you break the socket or bend/break a pin, that's another story!)
Glad you got it figured out. Don't feel bad, it's all new stuff til you've done it once. Even after umpteen changes in my BIN (trying to get perfect driveability), I've plugged it in backwards once or twice.
You'll be glad to get the logging software. There's great peace of mind having that feedback. Plus, it makes diagnosis of future problems much easier.
