L98 timing
what do you set your time at for best performance and horsepower on 86 vette

For 85 - 8deg. advanced.
If you check out prior posts, most setups are between 6 to 8 deg. advanced.

Stock chip? Stock induction and cam?
6 degrees... as prescribed from GM on the drivers side of your top radiator cover :)

What do you have done to it? You can't put a teaser like that and tell us at least some of what you have done.

my motor has been rebuilt it was bored .40 over 52mm tb,flowmaster mufflers, slp headers, no cats, k&N filter, open air lid, 3.73 gear, hypertech chip, cam .444/.444, heads ported and polished, and dry shot of nos if i could ever get it to work a custom chip and a set of 1.6 roller rockers comning soon

advance it until it pings and then pull 2-3 degrees out of it. I run my modded 90 at 11

For me personally 9.5 has been the best, yet I also have not tried higher yet.

Setting the correct timing assumes that the Harmonic Balancer hasn't slipped and that there is no slack in the timing chain.

timing chain and harmonic balancer only has about 30,000 miles on it i just had the motor rebuilt about a year and a half ago.
