Default skip shift???

my freind has a 1996 z28 with a 6spd... how does he get rid of it???

Summit, Jegs and a few others have a connector that you place in the harness going to the transmission to eliminate this. I know in the older cars you could just unplug it. The newer cars require a diode in there somewhere to prevent a TC from being generated.

If they are like the Vettes, there will be a trouble code generated if you just cut it or disconnect the connector.

Unplug the CAGS (skip shift), stick a 2.2k ohms resistor in the connection running to the car, and tape both plugs with electrical tape.

The ohms resistor will keep the car from flashing a code. The resistor can be purchased a Radio Shack 5/$1.
