Default Transaxle C4

Just wondering if any one has thought of, or actually converted, a C4 to transaxle? I think it would be a pretty cool mod. I think a ZR-1 with a transaxle would be something it desperately needs to take some of the weight from the front and transfer it to the rear. I know when I had mine, it was very light in the rear.

Its possible.
Not a very easy task to complete though.
Better off buying a C5 or C6.
Safe yourself the trouble.
GM engineers did all the work already for you.

I know all 1990-95 ZR-1 owners LOVE their 5.7 L DOHC V8.
No offense intended.

C4 ZR-1's are awesome machines too. As Is.

If everyone believed GM did all the work for us, there would never be anyone modding their cars. I am sure it would be very difficult, but I have seen some really astonishing things on this forum. People on here get pretty creative.

I think You would be the 1st in the world to install his own transaxle into a C4 ZR-1 Corvette......
The ZR-1 is powerfull car, even by today's standards. Why it feels light in the rear.

Enjoy the power!!! lol

ZF trannies almost never brake, the C5/C6 transaxles/trannies do when you start leaning on them. A lot
Some things just plain work.

Thanks for the info. I am currently Vetteless (Very bad divorce) I am just brain storming because I have a few ides of what I want to do when I do get another one. For example:

383 short block
arao 32 valve heads
and the gen one magnacharger
have no idea one what cam

but all this got me thinking about a transaxel. Gosh I miss my Z!!

Hah, Arao is just down the street from me.Been around a long time

A ZF will handle the power that makes just fine.

Jerico would be fun

Youll make more power with that 383/Arao combo than you ever could with a ZR1

I heard those heads have some geometry issues. The pushrods rub on block. Maybe they are better now. Still sounds very expensive,

There are some very good 23 degree heads out there that would make life much easier. And probably save you alot of money.

That was the issue that I was reading about. It seems they have worked out that issue. I noticed they offer head gaskets with a notch cut out for the push rods, so I can only assume they rubbing issue had been sorted out. If and when I do this, that is deffinately something I would make sure about first.

Seen their Camaro (shop/track car), used to make runs down the street where I moved from last year.

It absolutely screamed, turned rpm like there was no tomorrow

Other than that, no.

I understand their heads have come a long way, their earlier ones looked a little crude, now they are all done up with CNC who knows how they really work. Would be fun to research it-
Maybe speedtalk.com has some good info?

You tube has several videos showing them on various engines, i.e. Camaro, VW, Ford, Landspeed vehicles...

I just went through a bunch of them.
I see nelson racing engines has a vid of a 406 with those heads as well as a roots blower. the thing screams to 6K on a rev. But no HP info.

One vid from the sema show of 2007 shows arao with a TT motor. Looks like nelson and arao are in the same hood and exchanging stuff.

Looking further I see a vid of a w-43 motor which is an olds motor done way back when. I will see if I can get a screne grab of the valves. It looks like Arao got the idea from that. Very interesting how similar, yet different.
