well I'm waiting for my 8 lb intercooled kit from xtreme ( 2 weeks now) and I don't have any thing better to do but worry weather the kits complete or if I need bigger fuel injectors ( 85's have 19 lb right?) and will running with say 30 lbs injectors when not needed hurt anything? also timing retard and then theres fuel volume, they send a in line booster pump with the kit, will this over work the stock pump? For timing I've been looking a MSD, which model, and do I need one or should I just burn a new chip, is the stock coil hot enough?
Thanks for your help, I'd like to do this right the first time.
lead,
FYI, assuming your injectors are stock and never been replaced then they are the 24 lb variety. These injectors, made by Bosch, really are some of the better units floating around out there. When I rebuilt my car I had my stock injectors cleaned and flow tested... all was well.
Give Mike a call on Monday... I'm sure we can address any concerns you have :)
Who makes the kit for your car? I was a Nitrous Junk but now i am a boost freak! I would say running 30 lbs inj's for minimul time would be ok. Under boost i am up to 60psi(Bigger fuel pump came in the kit)
Procharger.....8 lb boost.......intercooled....for an 85.....they say no chip is needed, stock chip with an intercooler is all I need....I wish I could get that in writing, but xtreme is getting there information from procharger tech and they (procharger tech) told me the same thing.
I think that kit comes with fuel pump and FMU (FMU will clamp the return line which will raise fuel line pressure). All in all, if your car is bone stock, the kit will work great.
