Default Strange O2 sensor problem

Hi,

well a couple of days ago I got a SES light, code 13.
AutoXray showed the O2 sensor reading rather constant without much change around 0.4v.

It was saturday and no chance to get a new O2 so I used an old one (from a Ford! but worked when removed)and soldered the plug to it, worked so far.

I checked operation with AXray...

Now today I got a new O2 from Standard and it failed within hours with the same symptom, but reading constantly below 0.1-0.2v. Put the soldered one back in- works fine.

I will get a AC delco tomorrow, but I am a little confused here....it seems strange that the new sensor failed so soon.....
Any Ideas? Or just coincidence? Bad ECM?

I know this isnt right , but I'd stick with the ford, you know it works.

Hehe, I really consider it if anything else fails, but I will give the AC delco a try when I get it....

As for the Ford one, it is a heated O2 with 4 wires, I only use the signal wire...the whole setup looks pretty MacGyver-like and would need to be redone as a permanant fix.

Yet I cannot believe the old and new O2 sensor being defective....the old one is also not very old.
If the AC delco one also fails, I will need to have a look at the ECM. The wiring checked out fine so far, otherwise it wouldn´t work with the Ford one I´d say...

Default What Year is your Vet?

I had a simular problem with the wire harness going to ground on the feed wire to the sensor. It was reading .009 volts. So, I ran another wire to the sensor from the ECM to get the .39 volts for the sensor to start up on. You may want to look up the value to the O2 sendor on your particular Year Corvette. It's very easy to check and then you know for sure your O2 sensor is supplied the correct design voltage for that sensor.
Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the info. But where can I look up the needed voltage? I have a 88 convertible, maybe someone knows.....
