After pulling the console to replace the auto tranny indictor light bulb I found that it has not failed, it doesn't have a wire connected to it! After the removal of the old cell phone unit and amplifier I suspect the wire went missing. Of course I could hot wire it to the console lid power but then it would probably be on all the time or maybe I could wire it up to the console lid bulb and then I could open the console to activate the indicator bulb, not my favorite option. Anyone willing to save me some time and tell me where to route a new power wire that will come on at the proper time? All options considered. Thanks
I would tend to think that the wire is in there somewhere. Perhaps it accidentally got pulled into the main dash? But the fix is easy, just tap into the nearest parking light dash source - the one that dims the dash and other interior lights, not the parking lights themselves.. I have done this. You will need the FSM for your year to find the wire color and easiest one to get at.

Yes, that's the idea, tapping into the dash lights would do it. I have a Helms manuals for my 1987 but not this 1995, so anyone with that info from the FSM, I could use it.
As soon as I can get as much input as possible I'm going to open it up and get into it.
If your 95 is anything like my 94 you have an auxiliary circuit under the shift tunnel cover and right in front of the console. There should be three wires -- a black ground and two hot wires, one switched and one direct to the battery. You will want to use the switched one. I'm surprised the PO did not use those wires to power the phone.
They can be found near the back end of the transmission tunnel cover (under the plastic cover that holds the gear selector indicator) and can be revealed and fished back into the console when you lift the front part of the plastic tray inside the console, where the coin slots are. If you have the owner's manual there should be a description of these wires and how to find them (pg. 76 in my copy). It's called "accessory plug" in the manual index.
You will have to remove a few hex-head screws to lift that plastic tray. And you will have to remove the console cover as a first step.
Again, this is for a 94, but I can't imagine there is much difference.
Anciano,
I found them, a black, dark brown, and orange going into a female connector -- and I have the male connector as well, I found it on the cell phone wiring. The black and orange are battery voltage. I cannot get any voltage using any other combination, headlights on or off, key on or off. So I apparently don't have a switched lead available there. Am I missing something?
I found the problem with the indicator lamp wiring! Wires are now the proper ones and it is working. I am not using the accessory plug wires. I still don't have a "switched" lead there, any tips appreciated.
I also found that the plastic indicator bulb housing was cracked, it will not stay connected the tranny shifter metal housing where it belongs. I suppose I can get one of those Monday, not worried about it.
