Default 1995 heater control problem

Hello everyone
I'm new to the site and please forgive me if this question has been answered. I just purchased a 1995 pace car and the heater control will not divert air from the defrost vents to the front vents. All the buttons light up and fan speed works but it will not go from defrost to main vents. I tried pushing the temp control buttons at the same time to see if there is a code and nothing happens. I have taken the passenger lower dash panel off but it's like a dogs breakfast under there. Is there a control motor that could be gone or is it the head unit. i'm lost.
Thanks
ken

You can find help for this in the "sticky" threads at the top of this forum, also by using the "search" function, also at the top.

You probably lost vacuum to control the vents and the most common cause it a defective vacuum check valve. It is located on the top right side of the engine. Remove the plastic cover and you will see a black valve with 3 hoses to it. The valve is probably cracked or broken, look at it closely.

Easy to check and cheep to replace, hope that does it for you.
