Default Front yoke

The front yoke on my driveshaft had a steel sleve around it, I guess it was a dampner. Anyway it came loose and it was rattling around so I just removed it. Now I have a driveline vibration when in high gear at low speeds. Do I need to replace this or can I just have the drive shaft balanced? If I need to replace this where do I find it?

It is not about balance...it is about an issue of "slop" in the drivetrain. The dampner helps hide the issue to keep the momentum of the shaft going...it won't hurt to leave it out. Chevy uses the same balancer/band-aid on on other years makes and models but usually to hide the slop heard @ low speeds and between shifts.

So what do I do to get rid of my vibration?

How many miles? You could check u-joints, slip joint & splines, anything in drivetrain for loose bolts, etc.

The car has 355,000 miles on it! The trans is new the engine is new the rear end has been changed and the suspension is all new. I can pull the drive shaft and have it balanced if that will fix the issue. What about the transmission mount could that be the culprit ?

Well if you didn't have the problem before you changed and/or altered the parts that caused the issue reinstall/replace the new and/or altered part(s) with the old part or the excact origional equivalent. There are a ton of good "used" vette parts out there.

Other options:
live with the noise/vibration.
Stay out of high gear at low speeds.

For the record the only time i have a vibration is when the car is in high gear and you are going slow like through town. If I tap the break and cause the trans to unlock it will shift down, increase rpm and the vib is gone.

There is no trans mount per se, but you could check the bolts on the c-beam, both ends.

On a stock application typically a converter should unlock on its own once your under ~45mph. If you've got a custom "tune", transmission &/or are running different size tires than the stock sizes this could be part of the issue. But again - if the car didn't have the issue before you removed the balancer then it would still point to the missing balancer as the problem as mentioned above.

I just looked at your profile - it looks like you've "got" all the stuff I mentioned. Depending on what "clutches" your running this may enhance the "feel" of the issue.
