Default Silicone hoses for your radiator? Anyone?

I am looking at upgrading/changing my hoses, and saw some samcosport hoses. But, I am curious if anyone uses or ha bought silicone hoses for their Vette.
I have also heard Good Year makes some better than average hoses,?

I have not ever seen Silicone Based hoses for a C4 available.
If they are around its news to me.

Silicone upper and lower radiator hoses along with silicone heater hoses used to come standard equipment on all special order Police cars for Illinois State.
And they were available over the counter for the Ford 5.0 guys for a long time.
Semi diesel trucks sometimes use Silicone hoses for Coolant line connections and turbo intercooler joint couplings too.

How much do they want for a set of Silicone coolant hoses for a typical C4 Vette?

Silicone hoses have been reported to cause coolant smells to be noticeable. Just FWIW.

Charleston,
I've been running Samco silicon hoses since 05.They are more expensive but are good quality and will last a long time. They offer nice SS clamps also to use. They come in 2 or 3 colors. I have red. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you some pics.

This kit is for the L98. I am not sure of the differences, but I know three are a couple to an LT1.

+1! I'm not a huge fan of the blue hoses. Does anyone have pics or details on using braided hoses??

Guys the 90's caprice 9c1 LT1 cop cars all came with silicone radiator hoses. Many of these cars now have a ton of miles on them and the hoses are still in great condition. The ones sold on Summit are just a copy of what the 9c1 cars came with. You could I guess look for some used ones off a 9c1 car. They are better shape even used than most older non silicone radiator hoses. Or maybe you could order them for a 9c1 car new somewhere. If you don't like the color of them just put a braided outer covering and the fake alum covers that look like AN fittings over where the clamps are. Good Luck Tim

Hi I just did a little searching. One of the other corvette sites gave a tip that if you wanted cheap silicone hoses go to places that sell semi truck hoses. They use silicone hoses and many different angled fittings for radiator and turbo usage. Between the angled fittings and hose you could come up with something that would fit our cars just right. Good Luck Tim
