is there an easy way to lift the 1986 corvette an inch or two. if so, then please explain briefly how to do it.
in the rear, there are 2 bolts... one on each side. these bolts hold the rear leaf spring to the lower control arms. also control height.
to lower the car, you essentially loosen the bolts... to raise, tighten them.
i need to know so i can bring the car up to laredo, i have some wicked speed bumps soming into the apartment complex, and im not sure if itll clear em.
infact, just lowering it is a trick.
the vette has more ground clearence than people realize... you might be ok - if your slow enough.

If you get under your car, you'll see where the mono spring perch is. You'll have to shim the perch to essentially push the spring farther away from the frame, but you can only go so far, because the spring is encased in a section of the frame and will limit the amount you can shim. If this doesn't make sense to you, get under your car and see where the spring is, and you'll understand.
BTW, I've realized that in owning a Vette, you have to make compromises; and living with a low ride hight (even stock height) is one of them. Just as I don't expect my Nissan to get to 100MPH without considerable resistance from the motor and ALOT of open real estate, I don't expect my Vette to clear most objects bigger than a coin on the road.
As for road obsticles, Try taking speed bumps and steep driveways at an angle to avoid scraping the underside. Good luck.
