I give up... I have researched the forums and pulled the headlight assembly several times trying to figure this one out...
I replaced my left headlight motor with a new old stock motor that looks to have seen no previous service. It works beautifully and actually raises the headlight assembly faster than the original right side motor. I took the car out for the first time at night a couple of weeks ago and found that the headlight would shake on every bump, especially at highway speeds. In my investigation, I found that that the motor does not raise as high as the other one by a few millimeters and has play in the upright position. Moving the threaded stop out does not make a difference as it seems that the actual shaft coming out of the motor is not in a stop postion and is moving a bit both forward and back.
It seems to be exactly opposite of my right side headlight assembly in that on the right side there is a bit of play when the headlight is in the down position, but it is very tight when raised. The left side is has the play when up, but is snug when down.
Any suggestions or assistance that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.
I originally tried that, but was unable to lessen the play in the up position. I'll give it another try tonight and see what happens. Thanks again for your help.
Would that be the busings inside the motor or on the pivot points of the assembly? If they are the three internal busings, I actually have a set I purchased before I found a nos motor. That will work!
I would try those, when you do them , they are a tight fit on purpose, just give them a light tap to seat them, if your motors have never been done, you would be ahead to do both.
