Default New track times

We took the car back to the track last night and put down our best times to date thanks to help from you guys. I bumped the timing back to 6*, lowered tire pressure to 25psi and filled the tank almost full.

When I ran with my friend in the car ( weight 245# ) we ran 8.6. I made several passes with him in the car because I did not want to get sent to tech. If you run 8.5 or better you must have a helmet and I did not have one.

Later I made a couple passes without him and put down my best times
8.4 1/8 @ 79.63
.2834 reaction
1.77 60'
5.3 330'

8.54 1/8 @ 79.62
.4923 reaction
1.80 60'
5.4 330'

here are the videos of the two runs. I lost the 8.54 run but I don't think I could have done anything to beat that car he was fast, he had MT slicks, a cam and I think he was spraying.

1/8 mile is over fast......does that track offer 1/4 racing for street cars?

Appears that the runs were made at HMP (Houston Motorsports Park) which is only 1/8th mile. It is a bit further (another 35 miles) to go to HRP (Houston Raceway Park) in Baytown or Sealy for 1/4 mile racing.

It looks like you had some fun.

Yes it was Houston motor speedway, I like the 1/8 it is closer to my house and easier on the car. All of the tips and advise have really helped so please keep it coming with any luck I will find more power. I know it is just a C4 but it is a lot of fun.

Glad you hear you got it fixed...strange issue but I'm glad it was pin pointed.

sounds super smooth - fine bit of driving too - for what you've got (sig) those are some really good times. Feel free to experiment with the timing when you go back - perhaps you can find a super sweet spot to give you just a bit more so your required to wear a helmet every single pass.

Are you kidding, you guys are too nice. My reaction times suck but they are getting better. The car has come a long way in the short time I have owned it thanks to you guys. I also went on my first Corvette cruise Saturday and met some good guys from the site. The cruise took us through the national forest and it was a very Spirited run. I was the only C4 in the group everyone else had c5 or c6 cars and I felt like a step child. At first I was scared I would not be able to hang with those cars but I guess they took it easy on me because I kept up. The bar has been raised and now more then every I want to build my C4 to hang with the big dogs. This morning I purchased this kit and it should help me win a few more races at the track. I sure hope I can figure out how to install all of it now.

Wasn't going to beat you down on the RT since everything else looked like a "seasoned" driver was getting it done

Glad you were able to have reliable on-demand power for the 'vette get together.

I've got a bunch of new and some slightly used NOS stuff stacked up in the garage as well. Hopefully - most of my "spray" should be on the car by the end of this summer. The "safety" stuff (relays, redundant solenoids and shut offs) is a must but I really don't think you need to upgrade/replace the ignition stuff at that power level - but to each their own. I do however have and recommend that you use some type of a progressive nitrous controller such as this:http://www.jegs.com/i/NOS/741/15835B/10002/-1 to keep from spinning/blowing up as much stuff @ the launch. Done with all the proper components and extras should be ~ 1K for this kind of a reliable power enhancer setup.
If you need extra "good" NX "standard" bottle valve parts shoot me a PM.

Keep us posted

I just bought all of the stuff I listed above for $550.00 I thought I got a pretty good deal. You touched one the one thing I was concerned about. I can't get traction right now the way the car is, so how am I going to get it to hook if I spray. My thoughts where to get some Nitto drag tires and put the N2O on a push button switch. Once I launch and leave the line I was going to hit the button and hold on. Either way I figured it was a good deal and at least 30 of you guys have already figured out this issue and could tell me what I need to do.

Everything is new. I am getting it all except for the Mallory box it was already sold. I need to find out what electronic box works with our car to remove timing in the car and has a window switch.

You can always install an rpm window switch that will only activate the nitrous in the desired rpm range. That or hit the gas in second gear and be ready to shift.
