just got this one for my job its a AC Delco, didn't want to chance it, you may want to think about getting some of these seals to while your in there. here is what my old opti looked like once i took it apart,
it was cause by a bad water pump shaft bearing. good luck with your project.
Go to Chandler Motor Sports and buy the Opti with Lifetime warranty for $134.99. Call at 877-727-8742 or order thru EBay, but talk to Nic Chandler and read the history of his developement of this Opti replacement.
basically put a long breaker bar on one and kinda shock the bolt(smack the breaker hard and fast),should break them loose, the hardest part was getting the balancer off the hub, ended up using the air hammer from underneath ,and kept alternating locations.

thats the same way i took the bolts out, but i used a wooden dowel for getting the balancer off, came from underneath and behind it and just hit it a couple times each side towards the center then rotated it and hit again, did this a few times and it came right off. the small o rings are for the water pump drive shaft coupler and the red one is for the for the water pump drive shaft timing cover, and the black one is for the opti drive shaft. its a good idea to replace them while your in there.
UPDATE: I finished the opti/water pump install. The vette is running flawlessly now. Thanks Chandler Motorsports for a quality piece at an affordable price and thank you O' Rilley's for a quality water pump!
congrats on finishing I'm still waiting on the gm water pump to come in, by the way how much coolant did it take to fill it back up? and did you remove the knock sensors when you drained the coolant?
