'94 Vette Threw Some Codes (HELP!!!)
Hey guys,
My vette recently died while running. Before dying, the rpm's took a dive. I threw the following codes:
H36- Distributor Ignition System High Pulse.
H41- Ignition Control Circuit Open.
H62- Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit Voltage Low.
The car starts and idles fine for about 3mins, and then I start running into problems. What do I need to buy to fix this? And what could be the culprit? My plug wires are fine.
UPDATE: I finished the opti/water pump install. The vette is running flawlessly now. Thanks Chandler Motorsports for a quality piece at an affordable price and thank you O' Rilley's for a quality water pump!

Definitely has the symptoms of a possible bad opti. A H36 ( loss of high pulse) should not kill the engine. If a code 16 came up and a loss of the low pulse occurred, I could see the engine dying due to it is required pulse.
I would at least clear the codes and see if any codes return. The opti could be bad with having no codes at all. But usually (not always) cause poor running with bucking under acceleration and poor idling.
But aside from checking connectors and pins as indicated already, there is a possibility the ICM could be a bad because the engine is dying.

Which should I start with, the ICM or the Opti? I'd assume the ICM since it's cheaper?
And to all wondering how I "through" a code, I meant "threw" lol

Code 36 is the opti or opti circuit to the PCM-- as stated above check the harness connection at the opti and above the right valve cover for corrosion etc.---however I suspect a opti replacement is in your future.

And if in fact it's the harness that's bad, where can I buy a replacement from?

So you wouldn't recommend going with the Autozone one? There's a core charge of $90, so I'd only be spending like $150 if I give them mine.

Just ordered an opti from chandler motorsports. Hopefully it's as great as the reviews make it out to be. I can't see how I could wrong with it regardless, seeing that it was $114 shipped lol

Took the water pump off today. I'm having a hard time getting the 4 plug wires off of the opti on the driver's side. Also, how'd you guys block the crank pulley?
