Default ECM tuning equipment

I have a 92 Vette with Auto trans that has no mods...yet. Im gathering information on what type of ECM I have and what I need as far as hardware/software I need to tune and monitor my car. What are you guys using for equipment and software? Experiences? Reliability and ease of use? Ive searched the forums and seen alot of different systems, basically Im wanting to know what is YOUR personal equipment and experience with it...

Thanks

Laptop, "Datamaster" program, and ALDL cable, for datalogging.

"Tunercat" program and Moates Burn 2 for chip burning....the old way.
"Tunercat RT" program with Moates Ostrich for tuning on the fly....the new and easy way.

92/93 are last years to have a removable chip ( memcal ) in the computer
Memcal must be removed and reprogrammed to adjust tune whereas a emulator (Moates Ostrich) allows real time adjustments from a laptop even while you drive

Thanks guys, Ive heard about the Ostrich system and may go with that. Where is a good place to learn about "BLM splits" and "checksums" I have no clue what they mean.. Does the software come with a "wizard" to step me through the processes?

If you use Tunerpro RT, you dont have to worry about checksums. The program takes care of that with the definition file. Split BLMs refers to the difference in O2 sensor readings left to right. Im not sure if the 92 has both or just one. I'd learn to datalog and what the numbers mean, then move to programming. Datamaster rocks for logging. Try it, then buy it.
