One of my roomates friends has a '66 Mustang with an early 90's 5.0 motor in it. He kind of ran it without oil.
He asked us for advise, and we asked how long at had been knocking, he said across town! Eeek, that crank is toast. We told him to take it to his mechanic and show him what he did, and it was going to be expensive.
Well, he didn't take it to the mechanic. He put oil back into it, and continued to drive it. Guess what...the Rod-Knock stopped.
if it was a Gm it probably would have burst into flames and shot a rod though his head if he ran it without oil :mad
sorry just a bit ticked at the general right now :D
As the owner of a few 5.0's over the years, I would not be suprised if the darn thing runs for another year now......They are pretty stout motors for a factory mill. I did some very unorthodox things to some of the ones I had with good results. Makes me cringe just remembering the dumb stuff.....
