Default OBX headers, headman elite or...

I need to get a set of headers for my 383 (475chp)

My top choises are the the coated headman elites, coated hooker super comps and the stainless obx headers.

My biggest concern with the OBX is the 2.5inch collector size. Is this adequate for my application? I am also under the assumption that these headers will fit my gen 1 small black with 113 heads or is that inccorect?

Any opinions?

I just switched to the ARH stepped headers from Hooker Super Competition headers. They were worth one and a half tenths in the quarter with no other changes on my 406. Great quality with merged collectors.

Those are pretty sweet! Hadn't heard of them until now... Are you running the x pipe?

I bought the x pipe and cut half the x off so it's more like a fat y pipe. I run this at the track and the pipe is open after the cut. It reduces the sound to below 115 db so I don't have to run mufflers. The advantage of these headers is that the primaries are 1 3/4 and step up to 1 7/8. They flow much better and I already mentioned the merged collectors. There was a group buy in the c4 for sale section a week or two ago. I've had mine since December. Willie

With 475 HP you are perfectly fine with 1 5/8" primarys and 2.5" collectors. The coated Headman Elite's fit good and many people here with L98's have them. The Hooker Super Comps are 1 3/4" primary (which is a bit large for your engine) and I don't know anything about OBX except they are imported from China...

A 383 should be perfectly happy with 1 3/4 primaries. Especially if he's pushing 475 hp. When I was running a 383, I had 1 3/4 Hookers and was running 11 teens.
