Default Tach help

I installed a monster tach in my 1988 vette. HAve the ground and the power wire ran correctly and the tach wire is connected to the old tach wire. But the tach only works some times and will suddenly drop while driving some times. Is my tach wired wrong or is the tach just @#$@ed.

Possibly a bad connection ( tach filter wiring commonly breaks ) somewhere giving intermittent signal.
Possibly your particular tacho requires the factory tach filter to be removed ?

I ran a aftermarket tacho and the stock tacho together off the factory wiring on my '87 no problem

Thanks for the Help! I'll check it this weekend, not in an rush anymore since the motor is pushing oil out of the dip stick tube now but it was bound to happen after 225,000 miles and being raced its whole life, after nitrous and a supercharger it was its time. RIP l98 Hello 355
