Holey schmoley. And I thought I was brave seeing the little 1 come up in the digi readout a few times. I don't think the second digit got past 0. :jester

I already replaced the prom with a Hypertech chip but it was designed for a California car so that didn’t help me with the speed limiter thing. Sux huh?
You could try ordering one without telling them it's a CA car and see what happens. Or you could send your hypertech chip to someone who programs them and have them remove the speed limiter. Maybe Ed Wright?

157 MPH chasing a little red twin turbo rice burner on my way to the 24 hr of Daytona in 2001. Set the cruise at 151 for about 3 or 4 miles. Car felt good but it sure didn’t take much wheel input to change lanes. Had new tires, fresh brakes and an alignment and didn’t pass any other vehicles (trying to keep it somewhat safe.) Made the 93 miles in 55 minutes.

I wouldn’t be able to order a non-Cali chip for a Cali car. Can someone like Ed Wright actually remove the speed limiter from that Hypertech chip though? I would think I’d have to have a new chip burned wouldn’t I?
To answer rmedina I think it is just the manual transmition Cali Vette's that have the speed limiter. Mine is a 4 + 3 and it has it. Another guy on this forum has an auto Cali Vette and he says he doesn't have the limiter. Go figure?

Yes and yes. Yes someone like that should be able to remove the speed limiter if it's in the chip and yes, you'd have to have a new chip burned. They would load the program off of your hypertech, delete the speed limiter, and burn the sans-limiter program back onto the same chip.
At least that's how I think it works, someone else might know better. You might want to start a new topic in C4 tech to get more eye ***** on it. (or maybe you have already and I missed it)
Re: how fast have you driven in your C4? (devilfish)
Bless me Father for I have sinned...142 the best to date.... (it came today at the top end of an "on ramp rollout" that began in second gear with a friend's C5). The 142 occured as the rev limiter activated (in fourth gear). Unfortunately there were citizens on the road ahead so we didn't continue the romp into 5th. Maybe another time. Cire96
