An intake valve or exhaust valve head breaking off from the valve stem

inside of a race engine turning over 7k rpm's does the same damage as

what I described above along with your photos of your L98 you provided.

Cheap China made valves destroy many good running race engines when they fail too.

My advice, do it your way but do it right. There is NO skimping or cutting corners on an engine rebuild.

It appears to have been the one. The size and shape is the same.

Wow I'm so sorry.
My newly built engine took a s**t a few months back. My wife said I walked around the house for a week like my mother died.
I agree with the guys take it as an opportunity.
I sold everything that was good and had enough money to buy a slightly used LSX and 4L60E. I'm happy now and my new project is on its way.

Got the piston out, the rod is straight and cylinder bore not scored. Time to look for parts.

You are very lucky, go out & buy some lottery tickets, quick! Good luck on finding what you need & getting the car back on the road.

"Eyeball straight" and "Engine straight" are two different things. Did you take the rod to a machine shop and have it checked or did you just eyeball it? Eyeballs don't have sufficient fidelity when we're talking thousandths of an inch.

What do the rod bearings look like?
