Default help with problem...

I have a 94 that I purchased a few months ago. It has about 55k on it and has driven great since I bought it (1700 miles). The "sys" light began to flash and I ended up having a new battery put in it. I had to take it back to the shop because it began to run like crap (about 100 miles later). The tech said the plugs were fouled and he replaced them. He said the car ran fine for him for about 10 miles and then had problems. When he hooks up his diagnostics, sometimes the computer responds and sometimes it doesn't. He is still working on it but says he is leaning towards either the caps and rotor or a bad computer. The plugs had alot of carbon on them and I have noticed that the exhaust tips also do. I believe it is running rich. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice????? thanks, mark.......

Take it to someone else! Plugs being fouled are a sign of another problem. I own a '85 so it is some what different from yours but I'd start with the opti-spark or maybe the 02 sensor. Could be alot of different reasons but I'd definately find a new mechanic. Throwing parts at a problem can get very expensive!
Good Luck!

Make sure your positive and negative cables are free of corrosion. Might have a new battery but if the positive cable is badly corroded could be affecting voltage levels.
